http://www.sw.kscg.gov.tw/?html=news_show.php&loc=home&news_id=38
On August 8, Typhoon Morakat hit southern Taiwan causing hundreds of millions of dollars in damage due to high winds, flooding and mudslides.  In two days, Typhoon Morakat dumped over 100 inches of rain in southern Taiwan. So far, Taiwan government has confirmed fatalities from the disaster totaled at 141, with 440 people reported missing and 45 others injured.
Kaohsiung is one of the counties that was hit hardest by this disaster. Many homes, schools, bridges and villages were completely destroyed in Kaohsiung.  In Kaohsiung County, there are still over 300 people missing and many of them are buried under landslides in Siaolin village in Jiasian township and Xinkai community in Liouguei township.  It will take enormous amounts of resources to continue the relief efforts and rebuild Kaohsiung.

For these reasons, TAPS has chosen to donate the funds to the Social Relief fund of Kaohsiung County.
Take a look at the disasters and relief efforts and why your contribution is greatly needed –
