Dear TAPS members,

TAPS is proud to present a special movie screening of the film “Empire of Silver”. Set in 1899, the film follows the story of a carefree young man who must prepare to take over his family’s Chinese banking empire. The film has won 19 International awards including Best Director at the Shanghai International Film Festival and stars Hong Kong pop star and actor, Aaron Kwok.

Taiwanese American director Christina Yao, director of “Empire of Silver”, will be making a special appearance at the screening and will be available for Q&A afterwards.

This is a unique cultural event for TAPS. If you enjoy attending the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), you won’t want to miss this event.

Please save the date Friday, 12/2. Come experience a great film and support Taiwanese American director Christina Yao. More details to come!

Time: Friday, December 2nd, 19:30-22:00

Location: AMC Pacific Place 11, 600 Pine St Suite 400, Seattle, WA

Hear what critics have to say about the film:

“Visually stunning and dramatically surprising, Christina Yao’s Empire of Silver is a self-assured debut film that manages to be epic in scale and intimate in focus.” –
Marshall Fine, The Huffington Post

“As a period evocation, Christina Yao’s ambitious feature debut “Empire of Silver” is flawless, richly and authentically detailed and superbly photographed.” –
Kevin Thomas, LA Times

“Yao keeps one eye on the specific and one eye on the general and is able to tell a story that has emotional immediacy, while always illuminating and refracting off the world outside.” –
Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle
